Raw Food Diet Month

Since June is national Reinvent Your Life month and also because it’s the beginning of summer here in Michigan, Betsy and I are designating June Raw Food Month.

What is Raw Food Diet Month?

To celebrate national Reinvent Your Life month… during the entire month of June 2011 Betsy and I, and hopefully some of you, are switching to a mostly raw food diet.  I say mostly because there are some things that we will partially steam or cook (al dente).  The rules are NOT set in stone and this is not a do or die type of challenge… rather it will be flexible to better help encourage healthy change in us and in others.

Why should you join in?

Well, you can probably come up with your own reasons for why you should be eating more raw organic fruits and vegetables… their health benefits have been proven time and time again.  Whether you eat the produce, juice the produce, or – like us – employ some combination of the two… you will experience radical improvements in your health, energy, and even radiant beauty.

While you’re here, check out some of our other articles on making your own household cleaners and personal products as a way to further reduce your dependence on store bought, chemically laden products.  I promise it will make you feel good about yourself!  We’re here to spread the love, so jump on the train and start improving your sustainability, your health, and your overall state of mind!

How you can join

Anyone can join and all you have to do to join is make the decision and start eating raw foods with us.

You can also follow along with any pictures and recipes I will be posting on the diyNatural Facebook page.

You can simply interact with us in the comment section of this article –  just scroll down, read existing comments, and add to the discussion.

Bottom line is… if you want to join you simply have to decide to do so then go to your local health food store to pick up some organic fruits and vegetables!

I went raw four years ago and it completely changed my life. I was healthier, looked better, had oodles of energy. It was great. Since moving to Ohio I have had a fight with staying raw. When I’m raw I feel great but miss pizza, etc. Any tips on how to stay raw permanently??? I eat lots of fruits but have a difficult time with certain foods. Also, back in Michigan we went to raw food potlucks once a month. It was fantastic! You got to try new foods and swap recipes. Ever think about starting that up????

Hi Carrie, I would say finding like minded folks in your area would be the best form of accountability. That way you could get together and do pot-lucks, maybe put out a CraigsList ad seeking other raw foodies in your area. Good luck and God bless. PS… I love pizza too – if you’re craving it, just make it at home, it’s way healthier.

I’m not doing raw food diet month, but I’ll throw in my two cents for a delicious smoothie:
almond milk, orange juice, banana, carrot, baby spinach, raw egg (optional), strawberries, mixed berries (to make it a color that my kids will consume). Delicious.

Proponents of the raw food diet deem that the characteristic American diet is replete with foods post-processing, animal product, chemical additive & post-pasteurization food that are contributory to ailments like hypertension & diabetes.

I had no idea it was Reinvent Your Life month! How exciting! Since I eat mostly all raw anyway, I guess I’m in lol. But what an amazing way to reinvent your life… raw foods have helped me make much more than just physical changes. What I love the most about eating this way is how it catapults my mental and spiritual sides into completely different realms than before. Hope you all experience the same! Good Luck!!
